A parallel universe... On our calendar, it would be September 2008.
The kingdom of Theeves has fallen on hard times. The economy is in shambles,
employment is rampant, the people are desperate. Moderation and Rationality are dead,
killed in an attack by the Other. Hope is hanging by a thread. Nothing is as it was
before King Oedipus took power. Hounded by reporters (or at least some reporters),
Oedipus vows to get to the bottom of things. “I’m gonna hit rock bottomif it’s the last thing I do!”
In fact, Oedipus has already sent his trusty second-in-command Creon on a fact-finding mission.
“We just got a facts machine. Ya ask it a question, out comes an answer,
with all the facts you need to back up whatever you wanna say. You wouldn’t believe
how much time that baby saves.”
Sure enough, Creon returns, with the news that someone is trying to bring back
rational thought.
That’s bad enough.
Then Fear shows up...
